Extra-Curricular Activities
At Elfed High School we believe in creating opportunities beyond the curriculum set by the government. Whilst we are proud of our examination results, we know that those alone do not make for a well-rounded person; we are committed to developing the whole child.

Extra-Curricular Provision
aims to:
- encourage a pride in being part of Elfed High School;
- develop friendships across the school community and support children to build a circle of peers who share a common interest/hobby/goal;
- promote a healthy balance between school and life complement and extend the statutory curriculum by providing opportunities to develop new skills which could offer an insight into possible career choices or life-time hobbies;
- Additional Level 2 qualifications include Equality & Diversity, First Aid and a range of Employability qualifications that include Risk Assessment, Customer services, Fire Safety and the Control of Hazardous Substances at Work. In Years 10 & 11 some students attend Coleg Cambria and The Military Preparation School, Wrexham, for a day a week and work towards a variety of vocational qualifications.
- offer a balanced and relevant selection of activities.

Here is a taste of our extra-curricular activities offered at the school during the year
Expressive Arts
The Expressive Arts Faculty (Music, Drama and performance) provide a number of musical and performance activities. There are many opportunities to take part in concerts, performances and musical/drama events during the year.
5×60 Programme
The 5×60 programme gives pupils the opportunity to say which sports they would like to take part in, whether it’s dodgeball, cheerleading, netball or another activity. Our 5×60 officer can liaise with pupils to find out which activities they are interested in and, if possible, arrange a timetable to give the pupils’ the opportunity to take part in the activity they have chosen.
School Sports teams
There are ample opportunities to enjoy sport at a competitive level within our school teams. Pupils should discuss these opportunities further with the P.E Staff.
The area of Extra-Curricular activities will continue to grow and hopefully with your support and encouragement our students will share many happy memories, learn new skills and grow into interested and interesting people.
