Trial Exams
To prepare our students for the GCSE exams taken in years 10 and 11, we ensure students are familiar with the routines and formalities of exams by conducting Trial Exams prior to official external exams.
Year 11 have their Trial Exams beginning on the 15th November 2023 and Year 10’s Trial Exams begin on the 26th February 2024.
External Examinations
All examination timetables, results and examination information are distributed digitally via the school’s email system to the students. Students receive this directly to their school HwB email account.
A small number of students may be entered for exams in the November or January exam series. If this affects your child they will be notified well in advance.
The majority of our Year 10 and 11 students will be sitting GCSEs in the summer of 2024 and the timetable will be added once published by the WJEC.

August GCSE Results Days and GCSE certificates
Students receive an overview of their examination results on Results Day in August each year (these are not certificates). The certificates are posted to the school the following term and students will be notified by email that they can come to school to collect them. Students who left in 2020 and 2021 can come to the main reception to collect their GCSE certificates during office hours, should they have not collected them as yet. Please note that they need to be signed for, so cannot be collected for friends.
